Bander abas Refinery Development and Revamping Project

1. General
Bander abas was constructed and put into operation in 1979 by Fuor-Thyssen Consortium on a plot of land with an area of 400 hectares, located along the road to Tehran and 5 km distant from Esfahan, to process the crude light oil coming from Bander abas -Maroon oil fields. Esfahan refinery consists of two parallel trains, each producing a rated capacity of 100,000 bpd. Each existing train of the refinery consists of two plants, one for the distillation, and the other for the catalyst conversion. The units of CDU, VDU, LPG, and VIS Breaker… are located in the distillation plant, and the units of Plat Former, Unifier, Isomax, Hydrogen…are located in the catalyst conversion plant.
Bander abas Oil Refining Company intends to increase its oil refining capacity up to 360,000 bpd. To this end, the sub-project package “B” called “Bander abas Refinery Development and Revamping Project” specified by the following table of project features was assigned to a joint venture of Pier Group Co., Tarh-o-Palayesh, and Bander abas. By this project, not only the capacity of Esfahan Oil Refinery will be increase, but also some parts of Esfahan Refinery will be revamped and the entire control system of the Refinery will be equipped with the electronic systems.Pier Perltite, Bander abas Joint Venture have taken necessary measures to fulfill their contractual obligations on design, procurement, and construction of the undertaken Project.
This Project is deemed significant and complicated because the Project works have to be continued simultaneous with the regular capacity operation of Esfahan Refinery which is one of the largest refineries in Iran. Construction of such significant and complex task project demands special professionalism and care to be taken for safety and HSE measures, which will be meticulously accomplished by the Joint Venture of Pier Group
